If she has a valid visitor visa - she can travel here until the end of her visa.

thanks. I would like her to stay here in the uk after her visa as we are expecting baby which is also due on march 2014.

Can we extend her visit visa based on baby due date? so that she can see baby???

You'll need to apply for a new visa before she travels to cover the period of the birth.

You cannot extend a visitor visa from within the UK without exceptional reasons (e.g. she falls critically ill which prevents her travelling).

In terms of money - you'll need to show that you can support her without recourse to public funds - so you'll need to show you have, at least, about £120 a week free or saved for the period of her stay here (e.g. if it's 3 months - that's around 12 weeks - so about £1500 at minimum) - but that's a proper minimum amount as that's 'minimum benefit income' level.

For any visitor visa - you need to show strong ties to the home country - regardless of sponsor.

So if your mother has a husband in her home country and she can prove it - then she should. A marriage certificate will help show this.

Whenever I apply for a visa - I think about it like this - if you assert something in the form, prove it. So if she asserts she's married in the form - include the marriage certificate. If she doesn't have it - explain why in the 'additional notes' section. If she says she has x income - prove it etc.

re: TB - see the Q&A at the end of this page:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /applying/

In terms of money - I didn't say 1500 per month - I said 120 per week. So for a month you'll need to show about £500 free. But if you need to show your brother's finances you can. However, this makes the application all the more risky. Your mum is now relying on you for accommodation, your brother for money ... etc ... it'll leave the ECO asking how genuine this all is.

That is the figure they used to use when considering what it would take to support a spouse in the country as a minimum (before they brought in the new income figures).

It's basically the amount of money that a single person could receive as benefits (and therefore live on) as a minimum. It's very approximate, it isn't official by any means, it's just a way to give someone a number to aim for. A visa could still be refused based on that number.

The UKBA simply say 'sufficient' - well - if you live in a mansion and eat at top London restaurants every day and that's clear from your application, then it's going to be pretty obvious that having just £120 free a week isn't going to cut it. But I don't see that you could, realistically, have someone additional in your house for less than that. They'd easily consume a third to half of that in additional food for a start. So if you factor in transport, additional water/heating for them etc - £120 a week looks pretty conservative.

Hi M, I have managed to find out about financial requirement. Home office calculated £55 per day if you are visiting in the uk.
Thanks,

Hi All,
Can someone please help on this matter.
I want to sponsor my mother on visitor visa so that she can come to uk. My mother married 32years ago and she lost her nikkah (marriage certificate). Can I still apply for her visa? I have checked on home office website under family visitor it stated that applicant need to submit his/her marriage status.
Has anybody come across this kind of situation?
let me know.
Regards,
Faisal
