ILR+HOUSING BENEFIT+NATURALIZATION

Post by safdar » Thu Feb 06, 2014 6:55 am

Hi seniors

I got the visa (HSMP JR)on 31/10/2007 and entered the UK on 19/11/2007.
I got extension on 14/10/2009 for a period of 3 years until 19/11/2012.
my wife including 2 kids came to the uk on 25/2/2012
I applied for ILR along with my my family on 12/11/2012.
all of us got ILR on 17/7/2013.(although my family was in the uk just for eight and a half months)

now we have applied for housing benefit. I am going to apply naturalization in july this year and my family will apply by the end of feb. 2015.
question........my family had completed 22 months in the uk when I applied for housing benefit. I have read it somewhere one have to be habitually resident in the uk to qualify for housing benefit.(http://www.housing-rights.info/03_3_ILR ... d-benefits).........please read the topic: What are the rights of people with ILR to housing benefit (HB) and council tax rebate (CTR)?) if council decides to give me HB, will this effect mine and my family naturalization application as my family was in the uk for 22 months at the time when I lodged HB application. .....urgent response requested as if it effect I should withdraw HB application....thanks.

one more question my friends/

in nov 2007 when I applied for hsmp visa my brother(british national) had submitted an affidavit to the high commission in Delhi that he would help me in settling down in the uk and he did a lot. then at the time of extension in October 2009 he gave me same statement on a plain paper. now I am receiving CB,CTC and have applied for housing benefit. will this effect mine and my family citizenship, especially housing benefit.

No, it won't. You are entitled to claim what benefits your qualify for once you have ILR and subsequently BC.

hi..seniors

thanks for ur help in the past. now another question arise, yesterday I received a letter from the council about court order to evict the landlord house. they are going to provide me accommodation for homeless people but they mentioned that I have made myself homeless intentionally and it will go in my record.
question is that is it going to have an impact on citizenship application of mine and my family as in council record I am recorded homeless intionally

Eviction is a civil matter, not a criminal one, unless there is willful damage or other issues involved in why they are saying you are seeking to be homeless intentionally, for example if you receive housing benefit and have not used it to pay your rent (benefit fraud) creating rent arrears etc.

Otherwise, it won't have an effect on your application.

Then it should not have an effect on your application as it is a Civil matter.
