claiming benefits

Post by rachitsharma » Sat Feb 22, 2014 5:17 pm

Hi, can anyone advice me.
I am a british citizen and my family has joined me from india on dependant visa. Their visa says 'no recourse to public funds' but I am eligible for benefits. I am claiming child benefit, child tax credit and housing benefit. My income meets the financial requirements for their visa extension. Will it have any adverse effect on their visa extension ? even though I gave all true information for claiming benefits, and my income meets the financial requirements.

Child benefits must be claimed in your name.

Child tax credits must be claimed jointly with your and your spouse names

Housing benefit must be single person claim and you need to make sure you are not receiving HB for your spouse, even though their name is included on the application form.
