Child benefit for recent British citizen

Post by Krishna555 » Mon Feb 24, 2014 8:43 pm

Dear all
Could anyone please explain whether I can claim child benefit or not
My child was born 3 years back and just I received my British passport after I year on ILR
My doubt is can I claim child benefit from the the day my child was born which is more than 3 years or from the day i got ILR.
In the child benefit form is there any column where we need to mention from when we are claiming benefit

Your help is much appreciated

Cheers

You could have claimed child benefit from when you were granted ILR.

You can put a claim in now but they will only pay backdated for 3 months, not for 3 years.
