Application Returned as Invalid & I came back to my coun

Dear Friends,
I have a very big confusion in my mind. Actually, my visa expires on 12-02-2012 and I submitted my application in time to extend the leave to remain in the UK. But on 08-03-2012 my application was returned as Invalid due to missing of pictures. After receiving of my all documents, I came back to my home country on 02-04-2012 which is more then 28 days after expiry of my visa but are not more then 28 days after receiving of invalid application by home office. Now, my question is that,"The time I had spent in the UK after expiry of Visa is considered as illegal (Overstay) or not ?" Before coming to my home back country I had written a letter to home office in which I have describe that why I am going back to my home country. Please reply me with right and legal information.

Why didn't you send the application back with valid photographs?

The UKBA seems to treat invalid applications as if no application had been made.

I came back to my country due to some domestic problem. Actually, my Father was admitted at Hospital and it was urgent for me to come back. Now, my next course session is going to start in September and I want to join it. Can you please give me any suggestion should I apply for re-entry visa for September session from my country now or should I wait to complete my 1 year of ban and then apply for re-entry visa to UK? Please give me some brief answer. I shall be great-full to you.

I think you are subject to One Year re-entry ban.

Your LTR application returned invalid mean you actually did not make any application to UKBA and as you left after more than 28 days, so, technically, you overstayed your visa.
