Processing time for ILR dependent visa from India

Post by vikkuboss2001 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:47 pm

Hi Everyone,

can anyone suggest what could be the typical waiting time for getting a visa for my wife. I am on ILR in UK and my wife will be applying in 2 weeks time for Kolkata. Also can you suggest is it the VAFA4 form that she needs to fill out online?

Thanks
Vikas

As she is applying as the spouse of a person who is settled (ILR) which is form VAF4 as you stated.

Waiting / processing times can be anything between 6 weeks to 6 months.

Thanks for your prompt response. Is it possible to bring her on 6 months visit visa and get it changed to spouse visa while she is in UK?

No, you cannot switch from a tourist visa within the UK. A spouse visa on form VAF4 is an entry clearance visa and must be applied for from her home country.

sorry for opening the new thread.. On the english language proficiency, what documents do I need to show? Is there a list of universities whose graduation/masters degrees are considered good enough for that?

If she has not done the English Language course you can send qualification evidence to UK NARIC to compare with UK qualification and is ok for home office. If you search the forum, you should get plenty of post, but I have included one below for you.
