About to send Set(M) application - final check

Post by Wonko » Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:39 am

Hi everyone, I'd appreciate it if I could get a quick check on the application/documents we're sending.

My wife entered the UK on 11/2/11 on a two year spouse visa. We have lived together continuously since that time at the same address (i.e. have not moved house or anything.) We are both employed full time and make (combined) £2900 a month after taxes. We have no dependants. My wife hasn't left the country at any time.

The documents we're sending are:

2 council tax statements in joint names for 2012/13 and 2011/12
2 bank statements for our primary joint account
2 bank statements (different bank) for a secondary joint account

This is to satisfy the 6 letters from 3 sources requirement. We have no other options for this as our electricity is from a pre-paid key, we have no gas, and the phone company refuse to bill in joint names.

For the finance requirement we are sending:

My payslips from Dec 12, Nov 12, and Oct 12
Her payslips from Jan 13, Dec 12, Nov 12 and Oct 12

I have included a covering letter stating which requirement each document is intended to fulfil.

We are also sending both our current passports, my wife's expired passport with her 2 year spouse visa in it, her Life in the UK pass certificate, two photos of her and one of me, and our marriage certificate (I think there is no need to send this as we were married when granted the initial spouse visa, but does it hurt to send it?)

We have photocopied all the documents we're sending (including all the passport pages with stamps in them.)

I don't think we're forgetting anything, but I want to be sure. Any advice on things we should add/change?

We're sending the application by post, which is another little niggle. I see from the boards that this is taking a long time to process right now. I'd be tempted to pay the extra and go to a PEO but the online booking service shows no appointments at all in Glasgow (we live in Inverness and both work, so no other option is practical.) We are planning to go to Australia in July to visit my sister and her new baby, so I really hope we aren't waiting until May or June for this.

Hi Wonko

Below is the link of what I prepared for my Set(M) application.

http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... ht=#606248

he 6 documents is the minimum requirement. From my list in the link, the caseworker asked for various random dated documents across the whole two period. You don't have to only submit joint documents, it can be documents addressed to each spouse individually at the same address.

Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

Do you think it's better to send more than what's required? We have loads of stuff - NHS registration, two years worth of bank statements, stacks more payslips, etc.

Are you applying by post?? I applied at PEO and took all the documents with me as well as photocopies.

If you are applying by post, send a selection of joint and individual documents spanning the two years - ideally a little bit more than 6 items though.

Great, you should be fine with those documents.

Good luck and hopefully if you are posting the application you won't have to wait too long.
