Question on arranging Citizenship ceremony

Post by Ctzn2013 » Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:08 am

Hi, I have some questions about arranging a Ceremony which I couldn't find answer to on the forum elsewhere. Does one have to book a ceremony himself/herself after receipt of the naturalisation approval or are you automatically booked by ukba/council for a public ceremony?

Also does anyone know how much London councils charge (approx.) for private ceremonies? And typically how much is the waiting time for a private ceremony once you receive approval letter from UKBA. Any useful information specifically on London councils would be really appreciated (charges/waiting times). Thanks.

You have to book your own ceremony and this is dependant on what type of approval letter you got, some people get a combined approval/ceremony invitation letter, other people get the approval letter first and the ceremony letter a couple of weeks later.

Different councils have different fees. Also, your certificate would be sent to your local council unless you stated a different council on your form. Your best option would be to contact your local council.

Thanks

I had private ceremony in waltham forest council. They charged £75 for me and my wife. If I was on my own it still will be £75. We had ceremony in 2 days from my phone call.
