Ancestry Visa/Youth Mob - Biometric Question (document help)

Post by cabradle » Tue May 21, 2013 12:47 pm

Hi there,

I'm looking online at all the documents that I will need in order to get my ancestry visa. I currently have;

Grandparents original birth certificates as well as their marriage cert.

Q1- Should I include my grandparents death certs? (they died in Canada)

Q2- Should my birth certificate be the original copy or can it be a photcopy?

Q3- Would it be easier to apply for a Tier 5, Youth Mobility Scheme or Ancestry Visa...I know what the difference is, but the quicker the better!!

Q4- Is there any way to find out how many Youth Mobility Scheme slots have been filled within my country?

Finally....Q5- What would you recommend that I bring on my end to aid me in getting my visa?

*Financial record (I will have.)
*Proof I'm looking for a job? how so?
Anything else?

Thank you so much!

Cameron

Q1- Should I include my grandparents death certs? (they died in Canada) Not necessary

Q2- Should my birth certificate be the original copy or can it be a photcopy? Has to be original and unabridged listing your parents

Q3- Would it be easier to apply for a Tier 5, Youth Mobility Scheme or Ancestry Visa...I know what the difference is, but the quicker the better!! either, you cannot switch to Ancestry within the UK though, you would have to leave and reapply and your residence period will start from scratch. Where are you applying from? My Ancestry visa took 4 days between submitting and receiving my passport back

Q4- Is there any way to find out how many Youth Mobility Scheme slots have been filled within my country? Not sure

Finally....Q5- What would you recommend that I bring on my end to aid me in getting my visa?

*Financial record (I will have.)
*Proof I'm looking for a job? how so? Register on recruitment websites and email correspond with agencies etc.
Anything else? Proof of accommodation

I will find my list that I submitted through First Contact Visas and send post it later for you.

Thank you so much!

Thanks for the quick reply. I would really appreciate it if you could send me that information.

So did you go through a third party to get your ancestry visa? If so, how much did that cost? It seems very expensive....I was told to fill out the visa information online at visa4uk.fco.gov.uk....Which I have done but Im stalling on making the payment because I want to ensure I have all the necessary documents. I am a Canadian who just graduated from an Irish institute. I live in Waterford, Ireland and would be applying from Dublin (I think that is where my biometric meeting would be?)

As for proof of accommodation, would i need to sign a lease? It says I can't apply for the visa while im in the UK so how would they expect me to find a place to live?

Also, Can i show a bank statement in euros to prove that im financially stable? Or do i have to open up a UK account? (I have an Irish account)

Thanks again!!

If you can book accommodation at a hotel for a period of say two weeks and also provide proof/printouts that you have been looking on websites for your own accommodation to rent, this will be acceptable. Or if you know anyone in the UK that will sponsor accommodation for a period, they need to provide a letter of invitation, copy of tenancy agreement and a council tax bill.

You don't need a UK bank account but you must have held the funds/savings in the account for a minimum of 3 months and the balance should not be reducing. If you have large deposits into your account, you will need to provide evidence of where the money comes from.

Yes, I used a third party / visa agent (First Contact Visas) for my Ancestry visa as I applied through my mothers line and there was an adoption, so it was a bit more complicated proving the Ancestry with loads of documents. The cost back then in South African Rands was about R900, which is about £85.
