Getting my wife and child a visa....

Post by Cruella » Thu May 30, 2013 2:37 pm

Hi everyone, I have read so much on the internet that my head is spinning!

My son (British citizen) has just left Zimbabwe and is in the uk. He starts work on Monday and will be given accomodation with his job (which meets the required financial requirement) He wants to apply for a spouse visa for his wife and child but needs to save quite a lot of money first.

I thought it may be a good idea for his family to take a 6 month holiday whilst they are saving money and getting all the paperwork together (as he will not have been in his job for 6 months)

However, I see that the requirements even for a holiday visa are quite demanding. She does not work as she has the baby. Few people have bank accounts in Zimbabwe (as they don't trust the banks)

If she was to get a holiday visa would she be entitled to work?

Can anyone suggest the best way to go about this please?

Thanks in advance....

You asked 2 questions, first one and then the other, and I answered them in that order.

Sorry but you sound quite hostile. This is a genuine query and it does'nt take much to be friendly :)

Can she work - no
Can anyone suggest anything about this - don't work (being my suggestion as that is what is necessary).

Seems simple and logical, so how is that hostile?

I asked if anyone had any thoughts on how best to go about it! (not working)

Your attitude is hostile. Are people not friendly on here? is it just yes, no etc?
Does anyone have any advise/suggestions? even a welcome perhaps? :)

She cannot work on a visitor visa and if she did get one, she would still need to go back to her home country to apply for a spouse visa (entry clearance). She cannot switch in the UK to a spouse visa.

Please don't be upset with Lucapooka, she tells it like it is with no frills attached but she is one of the most knowledgeable members on the forum and her advise is very sound and factual.

Thanks for your reply. I do understand that she would have to go back to apply for a spouse visa (which she will do)

I'm sure that Lucapooka is very knowledgeable as she has over 6000 posts, but I'm not used to the hostility that's all

Your complaint appears based on the yes/no aspect of my response. That's brevity rather than hostility. This is a free access public forum and you have to expect responses as individual posters deem fit; obviously the type of answer might not be the same as those you would get from a paid professional who is eagerly servicing a generous client. If you don't wish for open comment you should seek private audience. If posts are offensive you can complain and moderators will remove them.
