Personally, I would say using NCS as they make copies of your documents and passport and return originals to you and check the application that it is in order and send it to UKBA. This means you are free to travel if you need to etc and no risk of originals getting lost in the post, as some members on the forum have experienced.

If you post it yourself, you need to send all originals and wait for them to be returned, which could take many months.

Up to you. As CR001 said, the NCS has an advantage of you keeping all your originals. If you're not too fussed nor have any immediate travel plans then apply yourself using a SD service.

I will advice that, if you go postal, you also include a self addressed and prepaid SD return envelope for the return of your valuable documents.

NCS without a doubt - they could actually save you money if there is something really wrong with your application and stop you from applying or give you guidance to remedy the issue

NCS is a better option as we can keep the originals with us.
