when can I apply for citizenship

Post by sudhibabu » Tue Nov 05, 2013 10:15 am

Hi

I have entered the UK on 11/01/2008 for the first time on Hsmp visa.
I got my ILR approved on 14/12/2012.

When can I apply for citizenship?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys,

I came to UK on student Visa on 01st May 2004.Then after Degree got the HSMP. All dates are given below:

From 24-Dec-2013 and you'd have to be physically present in the UK, 5 years prior to the date in which the Home Office receive your AN application, assuming you're not the spouse or civil partner of a British Citizen.

Yes, but note it's not when you apply it's when the Home Office receive the application -5 years +1day. For example, if you apply using the NCS and then send your application on Monday 18th November 2013, the Home Office should receive it on the 19th November and thus, you would have had to be physically present in the UK on 20th November 2008.

There is no in person option.

Only postal (sending originals) and NCS (they copy originals and give them back to you).
