Tier 2 extension - Child Passport expiry

Hello there,

I am applying for Tier-2 visa extension through company sponsored application (with same employer). My visa was granted on 17th May and valid until June 15, 2015. My new Certificate of sponsorship(COS) will be from June 15th,2015 onwards and upto June 15,2018.

Currently I am holding Indian passport expiring by July, 2018. However, my son's indian passport visa is getting expired by 8th April, 2018. Though I have three years passport validity for visa extension, my son's passport does n't (2 years 10 months). It seems Indian passport can only be renewed before one year of expiry. Could you please suggest me?

The expiry date of the passport is irrelevant for UK visas. You can apply for your child as well and he will get a 3-year visa. When you get a new passport for him, you need to carry both (old & new ones) whenever you travel.

If you are applying for extension within the UK, then you and your dependents will be issued with a BRP card and not a sticker in the passport.

There is no requirement to update UKVI if a passport is renewed.
