Granted ILR (Mother in Law)

Post by starM26 » Sat May 16, 2015 3:18 pm

Hi,

My mother in law initially arrived in UK in December 2007. Due to long battle with UKBA she has now been granted ILR. The permit card she has received say's SETTLEMENT INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN, It does not say anywhere no recourse to public funds.

I am right in saying she will be entitled to all UK benefits as normal UK British citizen will be?

Also after how long you can apply for British Citizenship?

Thanks
MS

I am right in saying she will be entitled to all UK benefits as normal UK British citizen will be? Should be fine yes as she is free from immigration control if she has ILR.

Also after how long you can apply for British Citizenship? She needs 5 years of legal stay/valid visa in the UK, which must include a full 12 months on ILR.
