Dependant Spouse of British Citizenship

Hi All,

What is the path for British citizen spouse? My partner is on Indian passport. When can she apply ILR?

It would help if you stated what her current visa is, what the start and expiry date it, what date she entered the UK, etc?

Sorry, sure.

Status: I hold British Passport and she's my dependant (I was on Tier 1 then ILR)
Visa Issue Date: 10th Feb 2014
Expiry Date: October 2016

Your partner can apply for ILR after being in the UK for five years, regardless of which visa she's on currently. ILR is required for citizenship; once she has ILR granted, she can apply immediately for naturalisation but that process takes a few months.

Your wife will qualify for ILR in 2019. You can continue to extend her PBS Dependent visa and her next extension in 2016 will likely be granted for 3 years.
