NHS Dental - Very urgent - Tier1 Visa

Post by try2020 » Thu May 05, 2016 8:15 pm

Hello Experts,

I am currently on Tier 1 General Visa. Will be applying for ILR in August 2016.
1. Due to painful dental problem, I was suggested to visit a dentist asap.
2. My visa states "No recourse to public funds", I understand NHS is not considered as public funds.
My question:
1. Can I register as a NHS Dental patient with Dentist. Is there anything specific I need to tell Dentist to register me under NHS?
2. Can I use NHS Dental? does it mean using any public funds?

I am asking this because I did not fund any document or link states NHS Dental can be used same as GP NHS without any issues. I am really worried about this and I do not want to do anything stupid in the last months of my Tier1 General visa.

It would be helpfull to know if any are registered with NHS Dental and got the VISA as well...
Any response on above question is very much appreciated. I need to visit dentist asap.
Thank you for reading my question.

Note: I have read other question related to this, but they are either 2009 or 2012. I am worried about this thinking any new rules might have come in or changed with this regards. Hence this question.
Regards,

It is not public fund. It is also not free. Everyone has to pay for NHS Dentist.
Char (CR001 not Casa)

Thank you very much. I am willing to pay but do I need tell them to get me registered under NHS Dentist patient? I am sorry if I am asking a stupid question, I tried asking this question to my friends, most of them never visited dentist and they are all ILR holders now.
I understand that for private treatment it is very expensive but for NHS Dental it will be less compared with private treatment hence thinking to register under NHS Dental.
Your response is very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!111

Yes you need to make it clear that you want to be registered as an NHS patient. Be aware however that not all dental practices offer NHS treatment and among those that do, some may have reached their NHS patient quota for the year so you may have to search for availability in your area. The dentist should also provide a list of the NHS 'band' charges before treatment begins.

(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
