Tier 3 ICT Long term extension after visa expiry

Hi,

I currently hold Tier 2 ICT Long term visa (valid for 3 years) which expires in August 2016. I understand that I can extend my visa for 2 more years. I have the following questions:

1. How soon can I apply for extending the visa? (I have almost 3 months for visa expiry. Will I be able to apply today for extension?)
2. Will I be able to extend the visa after expiry? i.e, will I be able to apply for extension from India by November 2016?

My project ends in July so I might have to return to India without extending the visa. However, There is another project starts in November for which I might have to travel back to UK. So, I would like to know if I can apply for extension in November 2016. Thanks!

An 'extension' can only be applied for within the UK. An application made outside the UK is a new entry clearance visa.
