Family Visitor / General Visitor

Post by wpongal » Mon May 16, 2016 11:14 am

dear friends

we are evaluating the option between family visitor and general visitor visa for our in-laws.

1. myself, a british citizen with british passport
2. my wife, indian citizen with indefinite leave to remain
3. my wife is pregnant and expecting family support from her parents.

q1) should we apply for family visitor visa for in-laws or genral visitor visa for in-laws?
q2) list of documents needed for the either of the cases

much appreciated

many thanks

Standard Visitor Visa (Click), sub category family as your are both settled.

They need to provide substantial documents showing their personal and financial circumstances in home country and what ties they have to prove they are genuine visitors.

How long do they propose to stay?

Thanks CR001,

They intend to stay for 3~4 months covering the antenatal & post natal period.
a. My mother in law is an housewife.
b. My father in law works on a part time basis generating income on commission basis. hence, he has no access to payslips but only bank statements.
c. They own a flat in tier-2 city with access to all of the property papers.

i am not sure how we can prove they intend to return back apart from
- confirmed flight tickets with return date ( which is not a document they accept!)
- bank statements & property documents
- cover letter from all of us stating no intention to stay illegally and no intention to access public funds.

i am slightly worried!, should i be?

many thanks
