Fiancee visa - not sure if we need a BRP or not?

Post by wildtiger » Mon May 16, 2016 9:17 pm

Hi, my fiancee just got her fiancee Entry Clearance today. When she applied for it, the visa centre told her that she would need a BRP (biometric residence permit) after arriving in the UK. However, they also told her that her Entry Clearance would only last for one month and this was to allow her time to get into the UK and obtain her BRP. However, her actual Entry Clearance is from 10/5 to 10/11, so the full 6 months you get from a fiancee visa. She didn't get any documents with her passport saying that she needs a BRP. Also, her Entry Clearance is marked as "Number of entries: MULT". I am quite confused whether we need a BRP or not? I am sure we will need one when we apply for the "leave to remain with family" visa after getting married. But for now, is there any way to find out if we are supposed to obtain one?

We are getting married in August. We are going on honeymoon abroad straight after the wedding and I do want to make sure she can get back into the country legally when we return from honeymoon (as this will be in September, way before the entry clearance expires). Of course, after we return from honeymoon we are going to apply for the "leave to remain with family" visa on the basis that we will be married by that point.

No, she does not need one. She has been issued a visa for 6 months and this is sufficient.
