Tier 5 youth mobility with child

Post by tier5question » Sat May 28, 2016 12:32 pm

Hi,

I'm looking at applying for a Tier 5 visa however I have a 10 year old daughter.

Looking at the eligibility, it states you can't get this particular visa if you have:

- Children who live with you
- Children you’re financially responsible for

My daughter lives with her mother in another state and there is no child support agreement in place but I'm unsure of what constitutes financial responsibility in this case?

Does anyone have any insights here into whether I would be eligible for this visa or if I'd need to look at something different?

Thank you!

Whether or not there is official agreement in place, are you responsible for providing financial support for your child? If so, this will exclude you from applying for a Tier-5 visa.

My ex does not rely on my finances to support my daughter. She is working and has had 3 additional children since and settled with a new partner in another state. I give her money at times however there is no regular or formal agreement in place.

This point seems to be a little unclear. How would they determine if I am responsible for financial support? I believe I am not but it's very possible I'm wrong.

Appreciate your help!

You mention that your ex in living in another state - assuming USA?
Second guessing you are Canadian?

Tier 5 YMS is designed for young people without children or the financial responsibility for children. Based on your post if you can evidence that you have no financial responsibility through a legal document then you have a fighting chance.

No legal document then T5YMS is not for you.

USA citizens don't qualify for Tier 5 YMS as USA is not part of Commonwealth.

OP could be Canadia or possibly Australian.

As a matter of curiosity, from which country are you applying? :?

Oh sorry!

I'm from Canada. Sounds like I'll need to look at a different visa :?

Do you have any UK born grandparents (from either side)?
