I'm a Tier 2 dependent but got a job in another country

Post by C3PO » Mon May 30, 2016 4:38 pm

Hi all, I have moved to the UK (London) 4 months ago as a Tier 2 dependent. I started to apply for Business Analyst roles in London but have not had much luck up until 2 days ago when i came across an opportunity in Singapore. If i take this opportunity, it would meant that i have to move from the UK to Singapore and i plan to stay on that job for at least 1 year post which i would like to return to the UK. A point to add is that my wife is employed here and is the primary (Tier 2 general) visa holder.

My Question
1. Will my dependant visa be cancelled if i continue to be out of the UK for more than 1 year?
2. What is the maximum duration that a dependant can stay out of the UK?

1. No. Your visa is wholly dependent on your spouse.

2. There is no absence limit as such but absence should be limited and for good reason. At most, you will need an extra year before you qualify for ILR (if that is the ultimate aim.)
