Refugee wants to sponsor 90 year old mother to UK.

Hello

I have been granted refugee status for 5 years.

I am unable to work due to illness. I am living on benefits.

I would like to bring my 90 year mother to the UK. She is living alone in Syria. She has serious health problems and there's no one to look after her. There is fighting in her area and it is dangerous.

1. Am I able to sponsor my mother to come to the UK, bearing in mind I am not working?

2. Another option for a sponsor is my mother's grandson (my nephew). He is British and living and working in the UK. He has enough money to support her (his disposable income is more than what 2 people would get on income support).

What's the best course of action for my mother to take to be able to come to the UK.

1. No chance.

2. 0.0001% chance. Read up on the Adult Dependant Visa, costs about £2000 with practically zero chance of being granted, search the forum for that, aka ADR.

Unfortunately 'Family Reunion' is only available to a spouse or children for someone granted 5 year Humanitarian Protection.

The only way I can see that would work is if she managed to get to Europe and claim asylum herself.
