Non EU marriage

Post by EmilyH96 » Thu May 26, 2016 4:43 pm

I'm an American citizen but in line to get my citizenship within the next year. My fiancé is a Bengali citizen and I want to bring him here with me so we can be close to my family. I'm currently unemployed and don't know when I will be employed. What can I do with my given situation to get him here with me? How long could it possibly take and what are my options?

Assuming you mean Irish citizenship. Likely easier once you have that. What is your current immigration status in Ireland?

I'm extremely desperate for solutions, my life has become severely stressed because of this. I just want to have him here by my side but there are so many obstacles in our path. I have no knowledge of this as I've been dependent on my mothers husband for almost five years. I'm on a stamp 3 visa so I can't even support myself either. I'm so frustrated and angry and sad and stressed. I don't know what to do anymore.

The migration options should at least be clear from INIS website.

What is your gameplan?
How/where will you live?
Plans for work, study, travel/relocation?

As you are dependent on a parent or step parent, you cannot sponsor a 'spouse' or 'boyfriend'. You will have to wait till you get through the process but it can take a long time, there is no easy and quick route.

I have a full game plan I'm going to take a few courses that will make me more employable so I can get a job but even then I can't sponsor him. I'm losing all my hope, it's making me really depressed and I'm lost but I'm still trying. We were thinking to rent a place in Portlaois it's not too far from my mom so that's the best option for me. I don't know I need to do more research maybe there's a place he can take courses or something..

Ok for example, once I get my passport and get myself a job, will I be able to bring him here? Do I have to show the Irish government that I make a certain amount of money? What do I do once I have this covered

Non-EU marriage and immigration

I have a few questions. I'm due to get my Irish citizenship within the next year. After I get my citizenship I plan to start working and I want to have my fiancé here to live with me. My question is, once I've began working am I able to bring him here? Do I have to show that I make a certain amount of money a year? If so then how much? If it will take a long time what are my other options? I'm very desperate for answers as my emotions are all over the place I can't wait much longer to start my life with him. It's causing a huge stress in our lives and I'm almost at the end of my rope with this situation.
