Does new A2 English req from Oct apply to T1G dep visa extn?

Hi All,

I would like to get your views on the news (announced by the Prime Minister) published by Home office early this year regarding the new A2 level English language requirement for family route migrants seeking to extend their stay in the UK.

Is it applicable to Tier 1 General dependent (PBS dependent) extension?

[The main applicant has got the Citizenship already, but the dependents need to apply for an extension before they qualify for ILR (5 year route) and then naturalization. The dependents had not have to prove any English language requirements when they extended the visa last time back in 2014].

Your advice is highly appreciated.

Your dependents are on the PBS route NOT the family route (i.e. spouse settlement visa). Not applicable to you as far as I am aware but suggest keep an eye on the website and forms.
