ILR Processing Letter

Post by NickTheKiwi » Fri Jun 24, 2016 4:05 pm

Hello,

My partner and I applied on Monday 20th June for ILR SET(O) under Ancestry category (two separate applications so non-dependent). I sent the applications via special delivery and I can see that our applications have be delivered and signed for the next day. I can also see that the fees have been approved for payment on my credit card (pending transactions) but not yet charged.

What I need to know is, should I be expecting a letter to say they are currently processing our applications? The reason I ask is that our current Ancestry Visas expire on 1st July and I understand that while an application is being processed, we have a right to live and work under previous conditions. How do I prove that I have an application with the home office if they don't send me confirmation?

I belief your letter should be on the way to you. Normally, I think HO do send the letters after the payment transaction has been approved.

So be on the look out in the post

Thank you for your thoughts. What I'm concerned about is if a letter of some kind does not arrive before next Friday. Can I continue to work as technically my visa will have expired and I have no confirmation that an application is being considered with the Home Office.....

Yes, you can continue to work. You are covered by section 3C and your existing visa conditions continue.

Why did you not apply in person for a same day decision?

Probably the same reason that most don't apply in person for same day decision... It costs and additional £500. When there are two of you applying, that is an additional £1000. I am in no rush to get the ILR, I just wanted to know that I will get confirmation that they are currently processing an application from me. If I don't need that letter, then that is fine.
