Proof of relationship - Viber, text screenshots

Post by bluewhales » Mon Jun 27, 2016 3:59 pm

Hi there,

I'm applying for a Spouse visa (FLR - M). I understand that I will have to submit chat logs and screenshots (Text, email, Viber, Whatsapp.. etc) to prove our relationship. Here are my questions:

1.) What would be the best way to do the screenshots? Should I do a few conversations every month during the last 4 years? Our relationship started in May 2012 so it should be quite a few.

2.) Does the conversation have to show the phone number and date on the top? My Viber screenshots only show the name, will that be a problem?

3.) I didn't save my husband's number as his name as we always call each other something else. Will this be a problem? Should I write a cover letter explaining this?

I've called up the UKBA earlier and one of the staff suggested I do it every month for 4 years. If that's the case, there are a few months missing as I changed my phone regularly. What should I do in this case? Should I also mention in the cover letter?

Sorry for bombarding you guys with so many questions. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you!

You say FLR(M).

Are you applying within the UK?

What is your current immigration status?

Hi CR001,

Thanks for a quick reply.

Yep, I am applying within the UK and I'm currently holding a work permit (Tier 2 General).

Assuming you live with your spouse (ILR holder or BC), you don't need whatsapp, email etc. You need proof of cohabitation.

How long have you been married?

How long have you lived together?

Seriously misleading advice from the Home Office 'help line', as is normal.
Why do you think you need to provide proof of contact (telephone calls etc), when you're submitting evidence of joint address? Is this your first FLR(M) application.
Edit: Beaten as usual by CR001

Hi Casa and CR001,

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! :)

Apologies for not being clear. We've got married in April 2016 and we both live in the UK. However, we are not yet moving in together due to the cultural reason. We plan to move in together right after our Thai marriage which will be held later this year. So I think I still need to submit these evidence.

Would you be able to advise further on the screenshots please? Many thanks indeed.
