Tier 2 'Experienced Rate' vs 'New Entrant Rate'

Post by shuvoamin » Sun Jul 17, 2016 12:12 pm

I have been issued 2 years Tier 2 visa and I will need to extend my visa next year. Now, if I apply for the maximum possible extension, it will take my total Tier 2 stay beyond 3 years 1 month, therefore, I need to apply under experienced rate salary (according to Immigration Rules Appendix J => Appropriate salary rates paragraph 14, link => https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... illed-work).

My query is can I apply for just one more year under 'new entrant rate' which will make my total stay in Tier 2, current 2 years + 1 year = 3 years?

If yes, then what do I have to do from my side or my employer side?

Does it require any special remarks on my application or it is just a regular application with pointing that, I want my visa for 1 year only?

Thanks in advance

Total stay on Tier 2 allowed is 6 years. Not sure by what you mean by 'it will take my total Tier 2 stay beyond 3 years 1 month'.

You are not a 'new entrant', I think you need to apply under experienced rate as far as I am aware.

Hi @CR001 if you visit the link I have posted, there mentioned that I can apply for Tier 2 extension with 'new entrant rate' if my age is below 26 years old and my total stay does not exceed more than 3 years 1 month, and I fulfilled these criteria, therefore, currently I have 2 years' Tier 2 stay if I just apply for 1 year 1 month extension then, it will not exceed the 3 years 1 month limit, that is what I meant by quoting 'it will take my total Tier 2 stay beyond 3 years 1 month'.

So, my question remains open whether am I eligible to apply for further 1 year 1 month only with new entrant rate?

Thanks
