Social Housing with ILR and FLR M

Dear GURUS Moderators

I just got ILR in june 2016 and my wife got FLR M in july 2016.
I wanted to apply social housing as i got ILR.However my wife visa FLR M visa's condition no recourse to public fund. How should i approach my local council i have two daughters one is 16 months old and second is one month old. Both of my daughters born before i got ilr now i have applied for their registration for BC. ATM i have rented a double room in two bedroom house. My landlord is asking to move out and Now its overcrowded and very difficult to live in one double room with four people.and i can't afford private accommodation.

1.Shall i apply as single father with daughters.
2. Apply with my wife but let them know my wife is not entitled for public fund.
3. can i apply housing benefit as my own ? it is really possible to apply ?
4. can i tell them i don't want housing benefit. i just want affordable accommodation?

Please i am looking forward to hear from gurs and expert for their suggestion and guidance.

There is a very long waiting list for council housing. Suggest speak to your housing department at the council, they often have lists of landlords they work with for properties.

Also bear in mind that social housing or HB can only be provided by the local authority as a single person with children. You must make the Council aware that your wife has no recourse to Public funds as she can't be included when they award points for your place on the waiting list. They will also have to agree to your wife joining you in the accommodation.
