Checklist - what we are sending in... Fiance Visa

Post by Davi » Fri Jul 29, 2016 10:51 am

Okay think (hope) we are mostly there, if anyone can see anything missing please shout loudly!!!

Passport Photo
IELTS exam certificate, issued 6 months ago.
Certified copy of Passport and Certified copy of Birth certificate for me, proving UK citizen
Proof of Finances:
  • Savings account bank statement for me showing more than required total, held for over a year in that account. second savings account again showing greater than required total opened a couple of months back, bank statement showing details of transfer of funds to that second savings account to show I've had it over a year.
Proof of living together for last year:
  • Letters from Home office to Fiancée at our home address to prove address stayed at. 2 letters from college she attended also at our joint address. Voting card and further bank statement for myself showing same address.
Proof of relationship:
  • 300 pages of emails for 2 year period prior to her arrival,
150 pages of iMessages recovered from iTunes backup covering a 3 month period in 2015 (sadly that's all in the backup that was recoverable),
6 pages of iMessages taken during last 3 months, '
Facetime' call history recovered from iTunes backup covering a 3 month period (again, all that was recorded by backup!),
70 screenshots of interactions on social media.
4 references, one from my boss, one from my cousins, one from a client of mine who has met my Fiancée during a job, one from my parents.
A stack of Birthday cards, Christmas cards, notes, receipts
150 photographs of us as a couple, some with friends too
Proof of intent to marry:
  • quotes from photographers
email confirmation of appointment for a dress fitting
    booking of registry office.
Proof of Accommodation:
  • letter from parents stating they own the house we live in, look forward to welcoming her back, copy of land registry (slight problem here, house changed name 30 years ago but of course title deeds show original name)
2 utility bills in parents name.
Divorce certificate for me.
Space for TB test result, to be taken later

Anything else? Anything looking weak and need strengthening?

You don't need to include your birth certificate.

Bank statements need to show that the savings are instantly accessible and need to be dated within 28 days of the application. Either original statements (ie sent through post ) or if online and printed, then stamped by the bank/accompanied with a covering letter that shows they are authentic.

Maybe throw in some copies of flight tickets too? We can see it's obvious but some of them need spoon-feeding..

Mention the name change of the property in your sponsor letter unless you can get a document confirming the new house name from here:

Looks good to me but please wait for expert analysis! :)

Shite, the bank statements need to be dated within 28 days of the application... it takes almost that long to get something in the post to her sometimes out there!!!! I'll send her with what we have, then have to get Visa Letters from the bank to confirm the current balance is still the same and fed-ex it. :(

How long before applying will she be travelling?

Also, if you haven't already please check her English language certificate is from one of the approved test centres. I'm not familiar with this requirement.

6 weeks before, minimum. She's due to leave next Friday

IELTS test definitely up to scratch, had to do that one for last FLR application and it was accepted!

Can you not go INTO the bank to get an updated statement? You could of course courier documents.

The bank statements cannot be older than 28 days for a visa application, HO is strict about this.

I can go into the bank, they order duplicate statements, took 10 days last time to get these to me, and they are 6 monthly statements only as it's a savings account - so the ones I've just got a few weeks back, they're the last statements I'll get for another 6 months. They will write a visa letter though there and then, stating current balance of the accounts.

If you have online banking you can print the statement off and take it to the bank to be stamped/authenticated. Cuts out the 10 day wait for delivery. Some banks will also print these out in branch for you.

My bank declined my request to do that last time, said that the Visa letter is all they would do!

Stupid question (yes, another... my apologies my head is so full of fog trying to get through this, I don't know if I'm coming or going :( )

Can we just start filling in the application now online, going through it together, and save it as we go, but not actually submit it for a few weeks?

Wow, they aren't going to win any customer service awards are they? :?

Yes you can complete the form and save it online, our form is done and ready to go in a couple of weeks. Would pay to print out a copy with the guidance and sit together to complete it first.
