Travelling after submitting Form AN/MN1

Post by tulips4u » Fri Jul 29, 2016 12:58 pm

Hello All,

Apologies in advance if I am asking something already in the FAQ - I read it but wasn't still quite sure.

I am hoping to apply for naturalisation this week (using form AN) after getting the ILR in 2013 on the 10 year rule. My 9-yr old daughter is applying with me as well under section 3.1 (Form MN1) as she was born abroad. We both have biometric residence permit cards for ILR. My husband/her father is a British citizen and

We will be using the NCS. Just wanted to check whether we will be able to travel after submitting the applications. I spoke to the NCS off nice and they said it will be OK as they will be returning all the originals including our passports and the ILR/BRP cards.

Please could anyone kindly clarify. I read somewhere that the new rules require people to submit their original ILR cards with the application. I have to visit my mother in Nov this year and I am really worried about not being able to travel.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Travel after submitting biometrics.

ILR and BRP valid until parent and child have been actually naturalised, registered respectively.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But its quite confusing.

I and my daughter already have Biometric Residence Permits for ILR. Therefore, do we still need to submit biometric again?

My question was: Do I need to submit the Original BRP card to the HO when applying for Naturalisation even when using the NCS? (some people say that we need to, due to new regulations, but I am not sure)

Could someone clarify please
Thanks very much

Yes, you do enrol biometrics (again).

NCS take a copy of your BRPs to submit to HO. And return originals to you - that's what you're paying NCS fee for.

You then enrol biometrics again for naturalisation.
No doubt HO wants to know if you are the same person.

Once you've done that you can travel.
But make sure someone is monitoring your mail in case of subsequent queries from HO.

@noajthan - There is no issue in travelling after submitting naturalisation at NCS and before giving biometric. Just need to inform HO that you are willing to give biometric abroad. The only issue I see in this is time delay of HO replying you with new Biometric letter to enrol abroad and further delay in outcome. This from personal experience and also have seen 2 or 3 similar cases earlier where they provided biometric abroad.

Thanks

I don't think anyone said there is an issue.
People just need to get their ducks in a row instead of travelling on blind hope or in ignorance.

And clearly much easier to enrol in UK if based in UK (less delays).

I apologise profusely for persisting with this query, but as I'm now finalising the AN application I'm still not sure what to reply to the question (from Form AN - Ver 01/16):

''6.12 If the required biometric residence permit (BRP) is not enclosed please give details why
you are unable to provide it:''

There appears to be an expectation throughout Section 6.0 that any current BRP needs to be phyICALLY submitted to the HO with the application.

Would greatly appreciate it if one of you kind folks could let me know what to fill in under section 6.12 above. As stated earlier in this threat, I'll be using the NCS and plan to travel for a brief (one week) holiday out of the UK within a few months of submission of the application.

You can ask NCS to advised what is best and to help you with that question as you clearly need to retain your BRP if you are traveling.

NCS will include a copy of your BRP with your application anyway, so it will be sent, just as a photocopy.
