Spouse visa, English test requirement

Post by Mrere » Sat Aug 13, 2016 3:39 pm

Hello All,

We are in the process of collecting all documents needed to apply for my wife to settle with me in the UK. Kindly, could anyone clarify whether a degree was taught in both English and Arabic languages is acceptable by the British high commission when applying for a FLR(M) visa? My wife holding a degree in Mechatronics Engineering, her Univeristy has provided an original certificate confirming that the length of the degree was 5 years and was taught in both English and Arabic languages .

Many thanks in advance.

If she is applying from outside the UK, it is not FLR(M) which can only be applied for within the UK. It is VAF4A from abroad. For a degree (non UK) to be recognised, she will need the ELA from NARIC.

CR001, many thanks for your quick response. And thanks for correcting the form type that my wife has to apply for from abroad.
So, once I get her degree checked by NARIC we can just use the NARIC certificate as a prove of her ability to communicate in English language ?
Thanks

Yes, the NARIC ELA certificate and the degree.
