wife as family visitor visa

Post by aghayevi » Sun Aug 14, 2016 10:55 am

I am a british citizen, recently married my ukrainian wife. Her English is very poor+collecting all documents seems like a nightmare.
I thought maybe i can invite her under 'Family Visitor' for now, it seems easier and cheaper and after
6 months she can return and apply for 'Spouse Visa'.

I used to invite my mother and sister under Family visitor, why not to invite my wife?
I want to find out how realistic is to invite my wife as a visitor first, how big is the changes for refusal, etc.

Thank you

Likely to be a refusal. What ties to her home country will she show to prove she is a 'genuine' visitor? With a husband in the UK, the ECO might not be convinced and think she is trying to circumvent the immigration rules and the more stringent and costly spouse visa.

6 months is not 'visiting' but 'residing'.

Many people have abused this route for their spouses in the past and it is now scrutinised much more closely.

Thanks for reply. So it's better to apply for 'Family of a settled person' directly, right?
