Questions on Financial Requirement

Post by Iepi » Sun Aug 14, 2016 12:03 pm

my girlfriend and i are currently preparing our documents for a fiance visa. we are in a lesbian relationship for almost 6 years now and i am planning to bring her here in the UK. i am a current resident here in the uk. i have just applied for a british citizenship, and hopefully next month i'll get the results.

regarding the financial requirements, i am earning way more than the 18K pounds requirement and i don't have any dependents, we just want to ask the following:

1. how much do i need to have in my bank account to be able to sponsor my partner? i know they said enough savings, but how much is enough? can you please give us exact figures or at least the minimum amount?

2. we've heard that the money should be in the current account untouched for 6 months, is this true? i actually have money in my savings account, should i transfer the money to my current account and wait again for another 6 months to be able to comply to the 6 months requirements?

3. my girlfriend and i have separate investments in our home country, should we declare this as well to be able to prove our financial capacity?

If you meet the salary requirement of at least £18,600pa that is all you need. There is no requirement to have a 'minimum' bank balance. There is no requirement to also have savings if you meet the requirement with your salary.
2. we've heard that the money should be in the current account untouched for 6 months, is this true? i actually have money in my savings account, should i transfer the money to my current account and wait again for another 6 months to be able to comply to the 6 months requirements?
This is only applicable IF you are relying solely on savings and is NOT required if you meet the requirements with your salary.
3. my girlfriend and i have separate investments in our home country, should we declare this as well to be able to prove our financial capacity
See my answers above.
