Spouse visa change of surname on getting married

Post by aghayevi » Wed Aug 17, 2016 10:28 am

I am a british citizen, i am married abroad, my wife has changed surname. At the moment, she is waiting for a new passport with a new surname.
I wonder
When we'll apply for Spouse visa:
1. We include copy of her old passport because old original withheld by the local authorities
2. IETLS, TB Test will be taken with a new passport, so her new surname

I wonder
would it be ok whatsapp/viber history/emails/skype screenshots with her old, maiden surname ?

thanks, in advance

You obviously have a marriage certificate indicating her change of name!!

true, sorry, didn't think about that. it shows both surnames old and new. thank you

I have additional question,
her surname because it's a feminine has one additional letter 'A' at the end.
So it consints of mine + 'A'. I was adviced by a friend to have her surname changed as it increase the changes
when applying for spouse visa.
Could it be the true that the changes increase or not, especially in case her surname has one letter difference with mine?

Hi,

I have same situation, my wife changed her surname after marriage so marriage certificate has old surname while on her passport which she got after getting married has new surname.
Could this be an issue ? can anybody advise ?

Not an issue. You guys are over thinking this. It is common sense and very obvious that a marriage cert has maiden name and new passport has married name. It happens like this in just about every country.

How about whatsapp printouts on her old name and any other documents (except IELTS & TB test) on her old name?
