Does purchasing a home in UK or Home country affect ILR?

Post by seasky » Wed Aug 24, 2016 9:46 pm

Contemplating purchasing my first home. If doing it at home country does that show that I have no long term intentions for the UK and is that an issue with ILR?

Does purchasing a UK home help with ILR?

Not relevant to either house purchase in the UK or in the home country.
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Thanks CASA,

But don't they ask both about your ties to home country and your real-estate ownership?

How aren't interested in property ownership wherever. Many people own many properties in different countries.

If you are applying on the basis of Long Residency/Private Life established in UK, Owning a property in UK wont have a significant impact but may help showing closer ties to UK.

Page 39 of Guidance - Long Residence - Published for Home Office Staff

"Owning property or a business may support the view that an applicant has shown long term commitment and a connection to the UK. However, on its own, this would not be a significant factor. Factors such as the length of time the individual has owned the business or property, or whether the business is legally operating must be considered. "

I hope it helps.
