Advice required for making a complaint or escalating

Post by mysteron69 » Sat Sep 03, 2016 11:28 am

My wife is now into week 12 of her application for switching from a fiancee visa to a FLR(M) cat A.

In week 7 we were asked for further evidence of our cohabitation, which we provided and which was signed for. We've heard nothing since and despite my numerous calls I am getting no information as to why there is still a delay or when a decision will be made.

Is there anything I can do to escalate this matter? We took professional advice before making the application and in each case we were told our application was straightforward in that we meet all the criteria. I asked my MP to intervene - who btw also said she couldn't understand what the delay was - but they weren't able to give her any useful info either.

I keep reading people comment's about how they've received their visa, and they applied after us. It's driving us to despair.

Any suggestions or advice on how we can move this forward?

Did you apply by post? If yes, postal applications can take many months.

Someone else's timeline can have little or no connection to yours. And it is or has been UK holiday time.

Don't expect much handholding or feedback from UKVI except, as you have found, when something is required from you.
Best to sit tight and wait it out.

Well 12 weeks in my view is not an unreasonable period, giving the enormous cuts that has taken place in that department .

If however you want a much faster service. It is open to you to pay an extrac £500, and have your application dealt with on the same day.

Complex free application does not always many fast processing.

my wife is switching from a fiancee to a flr (m). She is already here in the UK and we applied by post. The service standard is 8 weeks. so even though I have read on this and other forums that people who applied at the same time or after us have already got their visas, I should not be overly concerned?

No.
Everyone's been on holiday and just had a Bank Holiday, including caseworkers.
