MN1 Application Query

Post by f317633 » Sun Sep 04, 2016 11:05 am

Hi,

Me and my wife got our ILRs last week. we had not included our UK born daughter in the ILR application, She is 4 years old and had Tier 1 dependent visa (we had included her during our extension application). Now since we both have got our ILRs how early should we apply for her registration using MN1 form? since she has no visa now, is it advisable to apply asap or we can apply for her registration as per our convenience. Please note that she has an Indian passsport and was ion Tier 1 dependent visa till we applied for our ILR.

Thanks for the help.

Makes sense for daughter to apply asap and certainly before daughter makes any plans to travel.

Thanks. she does not have any travel plans as yet, but will certainly apply for her MN1 by next week using NCS. Hope that should be ok. My only concern was that if there is any strict time limit for us to follow? am i right?

Post by f317633 » Sun Sep 04, 2016 11:24 am

Hi,

we have got our ILRs last week and now I am in the process of filling the MN1 form and has a query regarding

the same?

Section 2 : Residence Requirements (is this applicable if the kid is born in the UK?). My daughter is arnd 4

years and was born in the UK. This section is asking abt the date if the child is resident in the UK?

is all of Section 2 is applicable to my child or all of Section 2 is NOT applicable to my child?

Section 3: Parents’ residence in the UK or the British overseas territories, where applicable?

is Section 3 applicable to my child?

Please help.

Thanks

It not necessary to start a new topic with each question about the same application. Keep all questions in one place.

Have you read the MN1 guidance notes?

You need to complete section 2.

Ignore section 3.

Thanks CR001.

also, since my child is under 4, i guess i need to ignore section 4? this is for kids above 10 years of age?

also, in terms of referee, one referee should be someone who has worked with the child. my daughter goes to nursery, but not sure nursery care taker will provide a reference or not? in that case any suggestions who could be better alternative for the reference?

Also section 6.12, i don't recollect if my daughter ever gave biometrics, as she was just 5 months old when she was included in our tier 1 extension application. not sure if her biometrics was ever taken. do they take biometric of child who is just 5 months old at the time of application? she was issued with the BRP card when we went for extension in Sheffield in March 2013.

what do i fill in 6.12?

You have answered own question.

Try approaching family/child's pharmacist, nurse, dentist, optician.

Final question on the MN1 form. How do I make the payment? I cannot see any section on the form asking for card details or payment details? How to make payment?

Use payment form from Gov UK website.

Can someone help me in this?

Is section 4 applicable for my daughter who is UK born and just 4 years of age? Or do I skip the whole section 4 from 4.1 to 4.18?

It says it is for applicants who are 10 years or older?

Yes, simply skip it.

Thanks a lot!

One final question. One of my friend gave an example that child can travel outside the UK while her MN1 form is in process. Is it possible that child can travel out of the U.K. Even though she does not have any visa. Can she just travel carrying the proof that kids MN1 form is in process? Is that possible? I simply can't believe it. But my wife's friend told her that someone has done it and now my wife is questioning me.

Please advise.

No. A photocopy of MN1 form is not a travel document.

Friends are often great for chatting about the footie or Coronation Street; usually not so good on immigration matters.

Focus on the important matters, get minor registered and then apply for passport.

I just had the NCS appointment for my daughter's MN1 application and they took photocopies of all the documents needed and returned back the originals to me. My question is that they took the photocopy of my daughter's BRP card too which was expired as we didn't applied for her ILR. They returned back the daughter's original expired BRP to me. My understanding is that we have to submit the BRps with application form. What should I do with my daughter's expired BRP?

It is normal for NCS to copy the BRP. Nothing you need to do. If the child is UK born, there was no need to submit the expired BRP anyway.
