Change of employers - Urgent

Post by AbhijeetBasu2016 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 10:41 am

Hi,
Here is a situation that I need some urgent advise on

1. My wife works for a government department which is undergoing some organizational changes. Long story short, my wife has a valid Tier 2 General valid till Jan 2018 and the organization has issued a fresh CoS to her with a changed SOC code.
2. In the meantime, she has already got another job offer from a different government department that she wants to take. This organization has applied for a CoS in August 2016 and is supposed to issue one to my wife very soon

Question – Although we have not made any application to change employers/extend stay yet, can my wife have two separate CoS assigned to her?

If not, what should be the course of action? For example, should we ask the current organization to withdraw the new CoS and ask the new employers to issue one AFTER that?

Thanks in advance!
Abhi.

Hi Guys,

Would really appreciate if one of you could post your replies to this at the earliest. We are planning to speak to the employers today based on what we learn from this forum.

Thanks!

Thanks but I knew the "No" before I posted my question and was hoping to get a little more detail. I have been confused on "assigned" and "used" status for a CoS.

Also, the "No" does not really let me know if you think my approach in the second part of the question is in the right direction or not.

So, please let me know if you can help.

Cheers!

Assigned COS block the issue of other COS until it becomes Used. Once Used it is considered dead by the system thus allowing further COS to be Assigned.

Therefore you can't have two live COS in the system at any one time. So the current Assigned COS for her change of role will prevent the issue of a COS by the other government department. The only way round that is for the current COS to be withdrawn by the Sponsor to free up the system again.

I am glad to hear they kept her on after her previous postings :D
