Is it a UK issued one or one from your home country valid for the duration of your stay so far in the UK?

You may submit EHIC to support a DCPR application. Fortunately you don't have dependents relying on you.

If it (& any previous card) covers student years you should get in by skin of your teeth.

You do need to be careful with all such supporting evidence and precise details of your case;
the devil is in the detail.

Caseworkers are generally very binary, its pass or fail with them.

We, on the other hand, are perhaps a more tolerant and broad church where there are, perhaps, more shades of grey.
But its still the caseworker you need to convince in the end.

But my case won't affect the permanent residence, right?

You just need to prove:
  • identity;
    residence in UK (5 years);
    any absences from UK kept within limits;
    qualified person (5 years) - with CSI/EHIC whilst a student.
Do that and you should get DCPR to confirm the PR you have (hopefully) already acquired.
