Tier 2 - Changing Jobs Issue

Some advice would be appreciated, I am currently on a Tier II Intra-company transfer Visa and am seeking to change jobs after two years into my five allowed.

If I resign from my job, and then am placed on gardening leave for 3 months, am I still then able to remain in the UK during that time? Once the 3 months had elapsed, how much time would I have to find a new sponsor?

You can't switch to Tier 2 General if you are on Tier 2 ICT issued after April 2010. You have to apply from home country AFTER the 12 month cooling off period.
