Separate FLR(M) needed for wife and stepson?

Post by Gowiththeflow » Sat Sep 17, 2016 3:06 pm

Do I need to complete FLR(M) for my wife and nine-year-old stepson? One form each? Or can my stepson be included on my wife's application. My wife has heard that they each need one, but I think otherwise may be the case.

One form for both, child as 'dependent' in the relevant section. Immigration health surcharge of £500 for each applicant.

One form for both for dependents under 18. Page 4 of the form clearly states this. Two IHS fees though.

Thanks. I was thinking one form for both as the heading on the front page states, "Application for an extension of stay in the UK as the partner of a person present and settled in the UK."

What confused me is that for the original visa application (assisted by a solicitor), they needed to submit two forms. Why only one for this next stage?

Also, on page 4 of FLR(M) it states, "You may include children under the age of 18 if they are applying as your dependants." I thought I was my wife and stepson's sponsor, so is he not also my dependant? The above reads that he is solely my wife's dependant.

One form for both. Trust me, I and many others have done exactly the same. The child is classed as 'dependent' of the applicant for visa purposes. It has nothing to do with 'dependent' on both of you for daily needs etc.

Unless the child is adopted step-parents do not feature in such applications. (Same for me).
