Child Tax Credit in case kids staying abroad for longer peri

Hello Everyone

I am asking this question on behalf of a close friend of mine. He was on holidays with family in Pakistan for around 12 weeks. Now the problem is that he is back but the 2 kids (British Nationals) and wife is expected to come back in like next 4 to 5 months. He is a self employer and also getting Child Tax Credit. His question is that should his tax credit will stop because in any case he needs to tell the inform the HM and Revenue.

Any similar situation or any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Your friend has to inform HMRC/Benefit office. It will affect the child tax credits AND the child benefit payments if the children are not in the UK.
