Tier-2 ICT Dependent Queries

Post by chvedha » Tue Oct 04, 2016 12:43 pm

Hello All - need expert opinion on the following queries. My wife is applying for Tier-2 ICT and I am coming over as a dependent

1. I am working currently and planning to quit post my visa. However, I am being told that I should quit my current job (in the home country) or take sabbatical leave while applying for the visa. Is this true (I think this is weird!)

2. If I want to convert my dependent visa to Tier-2 general (Work permit) after an year or two, is there any cooling off period? I understand that Tier-2 general is a lengthy process of getting a sponsor and they proving HO that no talent available for a particular position etc.

3. Again there are news about HO abolishing short term visa (ex. 1 year visa) from April 2017 and convert those as long terms - any news about this?

Thanks as always

2. If I want to convert my dependent visa to Tier-2 general (Work permit) after an year or two, is there any cooling off period? I understand that Tier-2 general is a lengthy process of getting a sponsor and they proving HO that no talent available for a particular position etc. No, there is no cooling off for depedents applying for Tier 2 G. You have to apply from home country though and your sponsor must complete the full and proper RLMT to prove you are not 'pre-selected'.

3. Again there are news about HO abolishing short term visa (ex. 1 year visa) from April 2017 and convert those as long terms - any news about this? Don't believe everything you 'hear'. There is no '1 year Tier 2 G' visa anyway.

Thanks Char. Regarding point 3, I was referring to Tier-2 ICT. My wife is coming with 1 year ICT visa and we were told that this would be "potentially" changed to 3 year and above as they don't want to continue year ICT visa anymore. Anyways - thanks for clarifying so quickly.

Re point 3, if it is not on the official UKVI pages/announcements, don't believe what you 'hear'.
