Hi, Will my Mothers current British passport be accepted in lieu of her Birth Certificate (and expired passport); as I am unable to source (her birth certificate) readily?

Citizenship Ceremony

Post by taiyrai » Wed Oct 05, 2016 10:09 am

Can someone please confirm that I can leave Q1.18 of the UKM form blank with reference to taking part in the citizenship ceremony if I am currently residing overseas? And that; as per the Guide, i can do this over the phone? Thanking you in advance!

It will be done at the British embassy or advised venue. No you cannot do it over the phone. You also get your certificate at the ceremony.

Please keep all questions on the same application in a single topic.

As far as I understand, you need to submit the birth certificate. Easy enough to order a birth cert. A passport is just a travel document.

Thankyou! I will nominate the British Embassy locally here in Australia and have successfully requested my mothers birth certificate. Your help is greatly appreciated
