Applying for UK Citizenship by Descent

I have recently learned of the opportunity to apply for a UK citizenship by descent. Was hoping to make this happen if I qualify before the Brexit becomes official.

I am a Canadian over the age of 18.
My parents are both Canadian as well.
My Father's Mother (my grandmother) was born and raised in Scotland.

Do I qualify to apply for UK citizenship?
If so, what is the best route to apply?

No, you don't qualify if YOUR parents were born outside the UK in Canada. Your father is British by descent and that is were it stops.

You do qualify for an Ancestral visa though.

Brexit has nothing to do with British Citizenship. It affects the EU membership and EU citizens.

You wouldn't qualify directly as British by descent or otherwise than by descent.

However looks like your nailed-on for an Ancestry visa, just need all the birth, marriage and death certs for the direct line back to your UK born grandmother. Will be a five year path to permanent residency and six for citizenship.

You've missed the opportunity of a section 3(2) registration now too unfortunately.

Brexit won't affect Canadians really. In fact one of the wild dreams that the pro-Brexit crowd have mustered up is that we might have our own Schengen-style free movement area with Canada and Australia. Though I highly doubt that will happen.

I've seen a few Australians think that, but agree with you, that the UK will not allow it. The UK government have made it quite clear that they intend to reduce the numbers of immigrants "from the hundreds of thousands per year now, back to the tens of thousands per year of the 1990s".
