Can my wife apply after 1 yr of ILR?

Post by atrang » Tue Oct 11, 2016 11:05 am

Hi experts,

I am applying for naturalisation through NCS after completing 5 yrs on T-1 and then 1+ years on ILR.
My wife has also completed 1+ years after ILR but not yet completed 5 years residence in the UK. My understanding is that she can apply either after completing 5 years or immediately after I get citizenship, but she was told otherwise and she thinks that she can apply since she has completed 1+ years post ILR.

Could you guys please confirm what is correct?

Thanks in advance.

If you are not British, she needs 5 years residence which must include 1 year on ILR. She is not exempt from this requirement.

If you are British, then she can apply based on 3 years residence as spouse of BC
