5 Years Lawful Residence and PR

Hello forum members,

I am about to send off my application for naturalisation within 3-4 weeks and would like to get clarification on the following:

1. I acquired my PR as a direct family member (child) as i was a student and part time employee and did not have CSI, but i proved that I'm financially dependant on my direct family member.

My question therefore is - when now applying for the British citizenship, will the case worker require evidence of me being financially dependant on my direct member for the past 5 years o my PR will be enough as an evidence?

2. Evidence of lawful residence during the 5 years before the application - would bank statements be enough + letter from my university confirming me being enrolled on a full time course + i have P60s for the past 3 years?

3. i hope the Home Office will not question the need for CSI as i acquired my PR through my direct family member sponsor or naturalisation application is assessed on different merits than PR application.

1) No, assuming you have DCPR.

2) Maybe.
But add more official docs to the mix if you have them.

3) No, caseworker will know your activity was immaterial and CSI was unncessary (unless sponsor was a student).

My sponsor has been in employment throughout the 5 years but i guess i am not required to provide any evidence of my sponsor as now i have PR document.

The AN form is not specific on this one, I do not want the caseworker bring up the issue of me being dependant on my sponsor and prove again the documents how i acquired my PR.

they should have the documents and the application form from my previous application when i initially applied for my PR if they need any proof I suppose?

Does anyone know if NCS has big queues. I wonder how early i should book my NCS appointment.

Is NCS part of Home Office, i am not sure if i should rely and send certified copy of my passport (which will be certified by NCS) or still send the original??

It is not HO's responsibility to chase after your documents from a completely different department. It is the applicants responsibility to submit what is required.

Does anyone know if NCS has big queues. I wonder how early i should book my NCS appointment. Phone your council to find out or any council as you can apply at any NCS office. The wait is not usually long.

No, they are not part of HO, they are a third party 'agent'. NCS is part of the council. NCS will copy all your documents and return the originals to you. If you choose to apply without using NSC, you have to submit your original passport and documents.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, that is correct I ignored the fact that obviously it will be a different department!

However, I am still not certain if this department will question how I acquired my PR ?

Because I acquired through my sponsor direct family member (my sponsor - employee) and I was a student and did not have CSI.

Now I am sending pretty much the same documents (letters from my university) and I hope they will not bring up the CSI requirement. Naturalisation application asks to prove your 5 years lawful residence - and most of my evidence will be bank statements + letters from university .

I will of course submit my PR document along with the other documents.
