FLRM Help Required

Post by Wakizashi21 » Wed Nov 02, 2016 4:05 pm

Hi All,

In need for some advice,

My Salary for the last 6 months: Gross
June : 1348.52
July : 1625.21
Aug : 1549.42
Sep : 1549.42
Oct : 1549.42
Nov : 1549.42 - Will be the same

Can someone help me identify if i fall above the £18600 on annual salary? (if so what calculation did you use?to make sure im doing it right)

Also,

I currently receive £190.00 from my brother who rents out a room in my residence. I am the home owner and currently share the house. I have a tenancy agreement to show he is renting out a single bedroom and paying £190 per month. I contacted HMRC and they advised this comes under the Rent a room scheme and i dont have to declare anything unless its over the tax amount of £7500. Do i need to submit a tax return as i dont earn more then 7500? can i use this as non salaried income?

Regards

More details are required about your employment - salary/non-salary, fixed term, permanent, etc.

Based on the above you do not meet the £18,600 thereshold, however if you are paid £1549.42 in December you would meet the £18,600 threshold (£9372.31 / 6 = £1562.05 x 12 = £18744.62)

If your salary is variable, HO will take the lowest amount to calculate whether you meet the requirement. Based on £1549-42 you do not meet the requirement. You need a minimum of £1550 per month. There is NO discretion on this and if you are even £10 short on the annual amount, it will be refused.

Not sure about the rent you receive.

Details of Employment are: Permanent and as I have been promoted (as of 28/11/16) my Salary has risen to 29.5k.

My original Salary I believe started off at £18415 (may) and increased in June to £18593.00. (that's what is written on the FTE Annual Salary bit on my payslip.

November salary has now increased to £1639.13 as my pay grade has moved up. I expect this to be higher in December as now my FTE Annual Salary is showing £29.358.00.

My lowest salary will be June due to sick leave for a broken arm. (My actual salary states £1348.52, but I received additional £116.98 as I was underpaid and I did request for payslip to be adjusted but they said it cant be changed. will this have an impact? 9 I have the original email from the HR department confirming underpayment of salary)

I currently rent a room to my brother under the rent a room scheme for £190 a month. I have the tenancy agreement to show he is living with there with his wife. I spoke to HMRC and was advised I do not need to submit a tax return as it falls below the cap of £4k.

can anyone advise im following the right lines?

Not sure about the rent you receive.
If she is on fixed salary, then that will not be fine, if on variable, then the average over the 6 months will be used.

The rent will not be taken into account as you reside with the tenant in the same household.
