EEA PR Application - Credit Card declined, now what?

Post by Devilindisguisedev » Mon Nov 07, 2016 7:58 pm

Hello all

We sent off our EEA PR application form which arrived last Tuesday (1st Nov) at the centre in Durham. Annoyingly, we didn't read the payment section properly and as luck would have it the payment HO attempted to take was declined by my bank due to suspected fraud. One could argue this is technically correct, but lets not go there.

We enclosed within our application a Special Delivery envelope for return of our application. Although we haven't actually seen or heard anything else to say that our application has been declined, our instincts tell us it has and expect to receive our application back without consideration from HO.

My question here really is - has this happened to anyone else here? If so, did HO actually attempt twice to take the money? If not, how long until you received your application back?

Thank you

How do you know that the payment was declined? Did HO write to you?

Hello there

Two days after it arrived I got a call from my bank to confirm some payments. One was for £130 (2x £65) for EURO Liverpool. It could only be them. I really hope I'm wrong but my gut feeling is that I'm right.

Forgive the bump but anymore takers on this one? Going once, going twice...

From personal experience (not with Home Office though) when I have some or a series of unusual payments to companies or organisations I have received automated calls from the card company asking me to confirm whether I recognise the transactions. This is a normal security measure.
Did the money go off your account? if Yes HO got your money
Did the HO contact you re. failed payment? if No likely HO got your money.
I am not privy to HO processes.

Hi, my experience so far, somehow similar to yours.

I applied for Naturalisation (Form AN) on 16th Nov 2016 using the NCS Kings lynn. Later on that day in the evening my car was broken into and my bag stolen. I had to cancel my bank card obviously. So therefore i new they would not be able to take the payment from my card. Called HO and spoke to an adviser. She told me to send a new payment slip to the same address my application was sent. So i did this immediately.
My application was received on 17/11/16 and the new payment slip received 19/11/2016. However I was getting increasingly worried as the payment had not been taken but my mums payment which we applied at the same time(in the same envelope had) on 23/11/16.

Called HO again, the adviser said i was given the wrong information and he would have initially advised me to wait for HO to contact me (by sending a letter) telling me there was problem with payment. He said this is what they usually do when a payment does not go through. He said the payslip i had previously sent will probably take two weeks to be matched with my application so it was pointless sending that as i didn't have a HO ref yet.

Low and behold i did receive a letter form HO saying the payment had been declined dated 21/11/16 received 26/11/16. They said i needed to provide payment within 14 days of the date of the letter with a new payment slip which was attached. I wasnt sure exactly which address to post it to as the address on the letter i received (L2 0QN) was different to the one my application was initially posted to (L3 9PP). Anyways i posted to the one on the letter(L2 0QN).

I also recieved a letter in the same envelope to do my bio-metrics. So I posted the payment slip and did my biometrics the same day 26/11/2016. Hopefully i sent the payment slip to the right place and they will process my payment soon with no issues. I have seen some applicants on other posts say their a letter states not to do the biometrics until the payment has cleared, however i cant find anywhere this says this on any of the letters i received.

Have you received any letters or contact from HO yet?
