UK visa for UK born child holding Indian passport

Post by kartikmail » Sun Nov 13, 2016 6:34 pm

Hi,
I am a British citizen(holding a British passport) and my wife (holding an Indian passport) has an ILR dependant visa. Our child is due to be born in a few months time in the UK and we have decided to apply for an Indian passport for the baby.
Which UK visa have we to apply for the child ?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Kartik

Your child is automatically a British citizen. A BC cannot have a visa.

As far as I am aware, your child is entitled to both citizenships due to being born to an Indian mother and British father but I do stand to be corrected.

You can apply for a British passport directly and an OCI.

You can also apply for RoA in the India Passport.

+1

Children born with a foreign and Indian citizenship are allowed to retain both citizenships till the age of 18. The best way forward would be to get a CoE-RoA in his Indian passport.

CR001, you have a pretty impressive understanding of Indian citizenship rules.
